A Live Art Installation of Giant Calaveras at the Center for Puppetry Arts' XPT Show
May 15th-18th, 2008

"SoPo Fandango!" was the big spring fling for the Spirits on the South side. In November, the Living invite and honor the Dead. In May, the Dead invite and spoof the Living. Why? Because death makes a fool of us all year round!

Our skeleton puppets are larger than life because they are exaggerations of ourselves, they're a send-up of the quirkiness of living. Precious and trivial. Our choice in building materials reflect the temporary and the profound: the weakness of cardboard and paper carries the power of imagination and memory. Their slinky jaws are in perpetual motion because if the dead could speak to the living— they'd have a lot to say!
